Abstract

Current research in the quantum theory of transport phenomena is reviewed. Solid state and statistical mechanical considerations necessary for an understanding of the phenomena are outlined. The correlations between observed transport phenomena and parauneters of transport theory are described. Calculations are carried out for the case of conductivity in the presence of a magnetic field. The main ideas of Boltzmann-type transport theory are reviewed. Such transport problems as relaxation, diffusion, and absorption are outlined. (T.F.H.)
