Abstract

A workshop was held at the Simon Engineering Laboratories, University of Manchester, during 8–9 July 1986, to review and discuss recent developments in offshore hydrodynamics. Topics discussed include descriptions of breaking and directional waves and their effects on offshore structures, other nonlinear wave interactions with structures, the numerical simulation of separated flows and experimental studies of separated flows. The workshop concluded with an industry appraisal of offshore hydrodynamics research and a panel discussion on research needs. This report provides a summary of the workshop proceedings.
