Abstract

SummaryThe fluidised bed coating process consists of plunging preheated metal objects into a fluidised bed of plastic powder. The nature of the powder, its particle shape and granulometry influence the aptitude for fluidisation. The basic processes, which permit considerable coating uniformity and speed, have been developed for important new applications. For example the inside and/or outside of small diameter tubes can be coated at high linear speeds. The electrostatic fluidised bed process has also recently been developed and is specially suitable for continuous coating operations (for example wire coating).
