Abstract

A new neutron resonance spin-echo (NRSE) spectrometer, also called zero-field NSE, was set up at BENSC Berlin. One advantage of the NRSE technique is that it is easily adapted to use the tilted field technique for high-resolution measurement of phonon line widths. Features of the spectrometer and first results from the measurement of excitation line widths in superfluid 4He are discussed.
