Abstract

This chapter provides a comprehensive overview of microbial electrochemical biosensors, which are a unique class of biosensors that utilize the metabolic activity of microorganisms to convert chemical signals into electrical signals. The principles and mechanisms of these biosensors are discussed, including the different types of microorganisms that can be used. The various applications of microbial electrochemical biosensors in fields such as environmental monitoring, medical diagnostics, and food safety are also explored.
