Abstract
(1) Herbal medicines increasing the myocardial intracellular cAMP or inhibiting degradation of cAMP, such as Radix Aconiti Carmichaeli Praeparata, Fructus Aurantii Immaturus and radix Ilicis Pubescens. ( 2 ) Herbal medicines inhibiting the activity of the Na+-K+-ATPase of myocardial membrane, increasing the Na ÷ concentration and elevating the intracellular Ca 2+ concentration through the exchange of Na + -Ca z ÷ , such as Folium et Semen Thevetia Peruriana and Ramulus Buxus Microphylla. (3) Herbal medicines regulating the myocardial intracellular Ca 2+ concentration, by suscitating the activity of ca 2÷ -pumping in sarcoplasmic reticulum or by interacting with the phospholipid of the cardiac muscle cell membrane so as to keep the stability of the intracellular concentration of Ca 2 ÷ and therefore improve the myocardial contraction, such as Rhizoma Zingiberis Recens and Calculus boris. (4) Herbal medicines strengthening the myocardial contraction through two of the ways above-mentioned, such as Radix Ginseng, Radix Astragali and Rhizoma Coptidis.
