Abstract

Analysis of rainfall series in Israel during the period 1960–1990 for 99 stations has revealed that precipitation amounts have decreased in the northern and central coastal areas and in the northern mountain area. In the southern coastal area and the western slopes of the central mountains precipitation increased. There are indications that the observed trends may be the outcome of changes in the synoptic climate during the winter in the Eastern Mediterranean region.
