Abstract

On January 1, 1932, an auxiliary seismic station was opened at Woodstock College, Maryland, under the auspices of Georgetown University. The installation comprises a pair of Bosch horizontal pendulums, with photographic recording. The primary purpose of the establishment of the station is to train observers to supply the personnel required for replacement and expansion in the Jesuit observatories along the Eastern Seaboard. This station will serve as a cooperative unit with Georgetown, by supplementing, with its machines of lower magnification, the records from the highly sensitive Galitzins in Washington. Information on all major earthquakes is sent to the Jesuit Seismological Association.
