Abstract

Organic solar cells (OSCs) have drawn considerable attention in the last decade, owing to the great potential of light weight, flexibility, and low-cost solution processing. Especially, non-fullerene organic solar cells (NF–OSCs) have become a research hot spot due to their excellent power conversion efficiency. Interfacial engineering to facilitate charge transport and collection is crucial to achieve high efficiency of OSC. However, the interfacial engineering of NF–OSCs remains less understanding and systematically reviewed. This min-review provides a brief review of the recent developments in interfacial engineering for NF–OSCs with a special focus on the design and application of cathode/anode interface materials for NF–OSCs and interconnecting materials for non-fullerene organic tandem solar cells. This mini-review also provides useful guidance and challenge regarding interface materials for NF–OSCs. •The review focuses on recent advances of interface engineering for NF-OSCs. •Challenges and prospects for interface engineering in NF-OSCs are described in detail. •Difference between the interface layers in NF-OSCs and fullerene-OSCs are discussed.
