Abstract

Part I. Measurement of Sound Absorption by Oscillograph Records. The method is much the same as that described in the previous paper except the decay is measured through as much as 50 decibels. The results agree very closely with those obtained by the ear using the usual reverberation method. The coefficients for a few materials are given as determined by both methods. Part II. Absorption of an audience. The absorption of an audience has been determined when seated in different kinds of chairs. The results of these measurements are given with the suggestion that they should be checked by other observers.
