Abstract

Zinc ferrite or franklinite (ZnFe2O4) is a kind of cubic spinel ferrite material with magnetic properties, which has been studied since 1915's. ZnFe2O4 is widely used in catalytic processes and energy-related fields thanks to its narrow bandgap energy, although they are used as radar and microwave absorbent, pollutant adsorbent, etcetera. One of the favorable properties of ZnFe2O4 is that it can be hybridized, doped, and combined with other materials like polymers, metals, etc. Here, we tried to introduce the brief and general aspects of ZnFe2O4 chemistry, synthesis, properties, characterization, and some examples of its applications.
