Abstract

Background Intraoperative cell salvage has been widely used in clinical practice.The use of cell salvage can reduce the need for allogeneic blood transfusion and its associated complications.However,cell salvage can not be used in all cases because of its potential risks.Objective To summarize recent studies about intraoperative cell salvage and review its recent advances.Content This review will focus on recent advances of intraoperative cell salvage,including indications and contraindications,quality of salvaged blood,complications,cost-effectiveness.Trend Further studies should be performed to assess clinical application of cell salvage,adverse events and improvement solutions so that the use of cell salvage can be more effective in clinical practice.
