Abstract

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a common chronic pulmonary inflammatory disease, which is characterized by progressively increased irreversible airflow limitation. In clinical practice, based on the presence of chronic airflow limitation, lung function tests are often used to diagnose and assess the severity of COPD and clinical efficacy. However, in primary hospitals, pulmonary function has not yet been popularized, and some patients with severe disease are unable to perform pulmonary function tests.Clinically, simple and reliable inflammatory markers are needed to assess the severity of illness, risk of acute exacerbations, clinical efficacy, and prognosis of COPD patients. This article reviews recent advances in COPD-related inflammatory markers.
