Abstract

The delineation of clinical target volume (CTV) is a critical step in planning three-dimensional conformal radiation therapy (3D-CRT) or intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) for gastric cancer. Recommendations for target volume construction have been published for two-dimensional (2D) techniques, but are scarce for 3D CT-based CTV contouring. Recent advances and controversies in delineation of postoperative radiotherapy CTV for gastric cancer have been introduced. Further optimization of target volume for postoperative 3D-CRT/IMRT in gastric cancer is necessary. Key words: Gastric neoplasms/radiotherapy; Clinical target volume; Target delineation
