Abstract

Better understanding of the pathophysiology of neonatal illnesses has improved the management of sick newborns and infants, especially in the area of pulmonary care. Simultaneous advances in surgical techniques, such as optical magnification, microsurgery, and deep hypothermia, have made cardiac surgery in infants easier and safer.
