Abstract

This paper reviews recent advances in optical sampling techniques for particle analysis by infrared spectroscopy. Single particle spectroscopy, i.r. microscopy, attenuated total reflection spectroscopy, photoacoustic spectroscopy and i.r. spectroscopy of particles collected on filters are all described and representative results are presented. Mass detection limits and spectral quality are compared for the various methods.
