Abstract
Additive manufacturing is a promising technology that enables the highly customizable design of complicated metallic components and maximizes the utilization of raw materials. This review summarizes the current research interest in mechanical property additive manufactured metals and alloys. During the additive manufacturing (AM) process, metals and alloys undergo complex physical and chemical transformations that significantly impact their microstructural characteristics and mechanical properties. In this chapter, selective laser melting (SLM) and electric beam melting (EBM) are introduced and the microstructure and process-related properties of AM alloys and their effects on tensile, creep, and fatigue are emphasized. Therefore, it provides a basic knowledge summary in the field of additive manufacturing for researchers to promote future scientific research and development in the field of additive manufacturing.
