Abstract

The acquisitions by the Department of Greek and Roman Antiquities for the period between the beginning of 1960 and February I963 were discussed in AR 1962-63 52 if. Here the more important aquisitions made between March 1963 and the end of 1966 are briefly described. Some have been, and others will be, published in the British Museum Quarterly (BMQ). I. An Attic black-figure 'horse-head' amphora (1964 4-15 I). Fig. x. Ht. 31 cm. This important class has hitherto been represented in the British Museum collection only by two sherds, and a complete example in a good state of preservation is very welcome. 600-550 B.c.
