Abstract

Recent results from the MARK III experiment on J/ψ radiative and hadronic decays are presented, based on an analysis of 5.8×106 J/ψ decays collected at the SPEAR e+e− storage ring. The status of the ξ(2230) is reviewed and the result of a search for a new rare decay mode of the ξ(2230) is presented. The complete set of ηc → 1−−1−− decays is discussed. In this channel, the ηc decays preferentially to final states containing strange quarks. In the decays J/ψ → {γ, ω, φ}X, X={KK, ππ, KKπ, ηππ}, J/ψ → K*Kπ and J/ψ → ρηπ, the vector mesons are used to probe the quark content of the recoil system. Possible evidence for θ(1720), but no indication for the ι(1460) is seen in these final states.
