Abstract

One critical issue in Mobile Ad Hoc Network is how to select a reliable path that can last longer since mobility may cause radio links to break frequently. A novel link lifetime estimation mechanism is proposed in this paper. The Newton interpolation polynomial is constructed according to several reference points to describe the received signal strength continuously; and then, with the methods of middle value and interception, the optimal reference points are selected reasonable to estimate the link lifetime. Simulation results have shown that the link lifetime can be predicted accurately regardless of the mobility pattern.
