Abstract

In this paper, we introduce the idea of the antenna selection to the downlink of a multiuser MIMO system. The antenna selection method could not only solve one potential dimensional problem in the zero-forcing (ZF) preprocessing of the downlink, but also obtain more diversity benefits without increasing the hardware cost. An optimal selection algorithm is given based on the sum capacity, and a suboptimal but faster algorithm is proposed based on an asymptotic lower bound of the capacity.
