Abstract

A 32 year old man, treated four years previously for a post-traumatic superficial temporal artery (STA) pseudoaneurysm, presented with pulsatile tinnitus. (A) Computed tomography angiography revealed a STA pseudoaneurysm (asterisk) due to recanalisation of the external carotid artery with flow through the six mm vascular plug (white arrow; Amplatzer VP-II [St Jude Medical, Minnesota, MN, USA]). Under local anaesthesia and femoral access, the pseudoaneurysm inflow was occluded with a 7 mm polymer plug with anchor coil (IMP-07; Impede [Shape Memory Medical, Santa Clara, CA, USA]) deployed proximal to the previously placed device (B, red arrow). One year after the procedure, the patient was asymptomatic.Image 1
