Abstract

The research was conducted as a descriptive and cross-sectional study in order to determine the induced abortion of women. The sample of the study consisted of 210 women who had induced abortion in Gaziantep Province Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital Family Planning Polyclinic. An interview form including information about socio-demographic variables, fertility characteristics, and voluntary abortion was used to collect data. The data were evaluated by percentage, arithmetic mean, chi-square test. In the research; It was determined that 27.6% of the women were in the 35-39 age group and their average age was 33.5±0.44, 61.9% had a first-induced abortion and 41.4% had abortion due to financial insufficiency. The relationship between age, duration of marriage, number of pregnancies, number of desired children, termination of previous pregnancy, gender preference during pregnancy and the number of induced abortions were found to be statistically significant (p<0.05). While the vast majority of pre-abortion women were protected by withdrawal, the rate of effective method use increased after abortion. Knowing the cause of abortion is effective in preventing abortion s. It is important to prevent recurrent abortion s with applications for women to use post-abortion methods.
