Abstract

Qualitative spatial reasoning has received a lot of attention in the areas of Geographic Information Systems, Artificial Intelligence, Databases and Multimedia. Direction relation reasoning is an important branch in the field of spatial reasoning. Applying the theory of interval algebra and rectangle algebra and studying points, a new representation method based on projection Interval is presented. For coordinate projection has certain topological features, we have transformed the nine cardinal direction relations to the superimposition of one-dimensional topological relations in x axis and y axis for a further study of the integrated reasoning between topological relations and direction relations. Finally, this paper presented the reasoning of cardinal direction relations, which is based on the representation of one-dimensional topological relations.
