Summary

Introduction

Normativity and Law: New Essays in Kantian Philosophy. Newhouse aims to answer Marcus Willaschek’s well-known insistence that juridical laws cannot be categorical imperatives, creating a paradox between normative obligations and rights. Willaschek’s own solution to the paradox is that we can find normatively binding ethical reasons, outside of the juridical command, to obey the law for its own sake.
