Abstract
• Isolated transection of vessels in islanded facial artery based flaps of the face can be successfully re-anastomosed. • Compartment type of tongue resection based on the sub-angiosomes of the lingual artery enhances outcomes of reconstruction. • Optimal design of the mucosal island ensures primary closure of the donor site.
