Abstract

Agrotis orthogonia Morrison was reared successfully on a semi synthetic diet for 11 generations. Eggs incubated at 26.5°C and 80% relative humidity began hatching in 10 days. The 8 larval stages were completed in 35–45 days with 96% of the larvae surviving, but a period of dormancy that occurred after the 8th larval stage resulted in a long and irregular larval period. The pupal stage lasted 21–31 days, with 87% adult emergence.
