Abstract

Real-time computer systems are becoming ever more common in transportation, robotics, and other systems. Due to the life-critical nature of many of these applications, it is important to evaluate the reliability of such computers. The reliability of a real-time system is a function of its ability to meet task deadlines, and can be very difficult to evaluate with confidence using conventional analytical or simulation techniques. In this paper, we introduce the use of rational interpolation (RI) to estimate the reliability of real-time computer systems. RI is shown to be a practical and accurate evaluation technique.
