Abstract

An attempt is made to summarise the state of the art of real-time particle size analysis as applied to the mill-classifier process in wet grinding circuits. Problems associated with the extraction of representative samples from the overflows of industrial classifiers are discussed. A critical analysis is presented of the use of industrial hydrocyclones and small classifying devices as real-time size analysers. Recent developments of rapid response automatic sieving devices are described. An assessment is given of the performance of a commercial on-stream size analyser and sampling system.
