Abstract
Traffic retention is an important factor of intelligent transportation system, which can vividly reflect current state of the road. Accurate estimation of traffic retention can provide support for the dynamic allocation of the traffic signal, thus alleviating the problem of urban traffic congestion. The traditional method can only estimate the long-term or red light traffic retention according to the variation law of the vehicle, and can not realize the short-term real-time estimation. In order to realize the real-time estimation of traffic retention, combined with traffic flow data, this paper presents the real-time estimation method based on M/G/n/0 queuing model. First, M/G/n/0 queuing model was established by analyzing the practical situation of road and traffic data, and this model was computed. Second, the simulation scheme of the road system was designed by VISSIM software, and used the COM interface of the software to realize real-time input of traffic data during simulation process. Finally, the proposed estimation method is verified. Simulation results showed that the M/G/n/0 queuing model can effectively and quantitatively describe the real-time state of the road, convenient for engineering practice, and it can provide theoretical basis for the urban traffic induction and control.
