Abstract

This paper proposes a real-time cell screening algorithm to estimate the available maximum charging/discharging current of battery pack which can make all battery cells operate within the allowable voltage range. The proposed algorithm excludes the cells whose terminal voltage is low enough not to exceed the allowable voltage range, and estimates the available maximum current with the low calculation burden. The feasibility of the proposed algorithm is theoretically explained and verified through the experiment based on the actual 36kWh battery pack for the electric vehicles.
