Abstract
This text is a dictionary of terms and concepts which provides a comprehensive and systematic inventory of the language of literary criticism. Its principal aim is to provide clarification and precision in academic discourse. Thus, in contrast to other reference works, it distinguishes clearly between information on words, terms, realia and research. In over 900 articles, it provides access to the terminological and conceptual framework of German literary criticism. One of the innovations of the work is the clear schematic arrangement of the articles; they proceed from an initial concise definition through the history of words, concepts, realia and research and conclude with advice on further reading.
