Abstract

Reliability and reproducibility remain as main challenges in the realization of large-scale polymer solar cells. In article no. 1800064, Jiang Cheng, Lu Li and co-workers demonstrate a smart method to prototyping high yield and largescale PTB7:PC71BM solar cells using ultrasonic spray coating. Marangoni-effect related coffee-rings and pin holes are successfully overcome via tuning the drying processes. The formation of PTB7-enriched surface, confirmed in solvent engineering, led to an improved PTB7:PC71BM blend film, and the influence on the device characteristic performance was systematically studied. The power conversion efficiency of the device is improved to 8.23%, and the preparation of a large-scale active area solar cell of 18 cm2 with a maximum power output of 74.8 mW is demonstrated promising for industrial applications.
