Abstract

The CHEMS (Chemical Health and Safety Environmental Management System) project is described. The project involved the development and validation of an integrated process and logical data model that describes the functions and information needs for managing the chemical, environmental, health, and safety areas of the business. The CHEMS modeling effort was started in January 1992. The teams consisted of expert users in their respective fields. The model was completed in May 1992 and includes the impact and integration of CHEMS processes with other key business processes such as production, plant operations, purchasing, and personnel.
