Abstract

This paper presents the design and implementation of a Distribution System model to assess and validate the grid behavior when Plugged-in Electric Vehicles (PEVs) are included. The study evaluates the feasibility of real-time techniques in different scenarios. The advantages of real-time simulations of this type of applications are illustrated with a case of study based on the IEEE 13 node Test Feeder system, considering the model of PEVs connection and disconnection. The paper demonstrates that the Distribution System model described in the proposed methodology is consistent with the expected power flow results; besides, its versatility saves costs and allows making test with no infrastructure risks.
