Abstract

In this study, an optofluidic refractive index (RI) sensor is realized by employing the liquid core/liquid cladding (L2) waveguide through measuring the output power of the waveguide. It is shown that the sensor is capable of measuring the RI changes with a dynamic range of 0.07 RIU from 1.342 to 1.411 which can cover a wide range of applications in the Lab-on-a-Chip technology. The maximum resolution of the sensor is 7 × 10−6 RIU.
