Abstract
The paper presents the design of a fully automated real time computer control scheme for least cost operation of a water distribution system. The scheme includes modules for optimized pump scheduling, water demand prediction, and complete system simulation. A set of real-time modules complement the applications modules to form a sophisticated on-line computer control procedure. The scheme has been implemented as part of an overall management facility for a city distribution network in the United Kingdom
