Abstract

Real-time monitoring of a chemical process with multiple operation modes is a challenging problem. The frequent changes of operation modes require frequent updates of monitoring models, which lead to the frequent pauses of the real-time monitoring activities. This paper proposes a monitoring methodology for a process with multiple operation modes based on hierarchical clustering and a super PCA model. The case studies have shown that the super peA model has shown better performances than a single PCA model for all operation modes and local PCA models developed for each operation mode.
