Abstract

Beamforming is a signal processing technique also called as spatial filter is used in microphone array. Microphone array is one of the most advanced tool in improving speech quality. In the presence of interfering signal and ambient noise along with a desired signal. When desired sound source and interfering signal will occupy same frequency band then temporal filtering gets failed and we cannot separate out the desired sound signal and interfering signal. However, the desired sound signal and interfering signal usually originate from different spatial location. Hence, we use beamforming technique to separate out desired sound signal from interfering signal. Beamforming found applications in wireless communication, acoustic and biomedicine, seismology, astronomy, etc. The objective is to enhance the audio signal coming from desired direction by blocking the signal coming from undesired direction.
