Abstract

An innovative control system for multilevel DC link inverters (MLDCLI) overcomes the insolation under partial shading of individual photovoltaic (PV) modules. This algorithm employs a combined MPPT and pulse width pulse generation technique to control a MLDCLI. in the presence of irregular sun solar energy. MLDCLI is evaluated with phase opposite disposition (POD) multiple of carrier pulse width modulation (MCPWM). Instead of affecting other PV sources, this method recovers maximum power from each shaded PV source without affecting others. Microcontroller-based prototypes validated with MATLAB/SIMULLINK system generators for typical output levels show drastic improvements in voltage quality. Inverter output is received through the filter for grid-connected applications.
