Abstract

The article concentrates on two aesthetically very different series of the German photographer Peter Bialobrzeski. The works “Neon Tigers” and “Heimat” are both dealing with the role of photography in contemporary visual culture by either making references to other media such as movies, literature, computer games and painting or by going back to the roots of photography respectively. The article analyzes Bialobrzeski's idea of photography and the image's relation towards a so-called “photographic authenticity” within the context of contemporary photography and digital media.
