Abstract

Semibullvalene reacts with Fe(CO) 5 on irradiation with UV light to give iron carbonyl compounds having an intact semibullvalene skeleton, and complexes resulting from cleavage of the cyclopropane ring. The various thermal rearrangements and interconversions of these compounds are described.
