Abstract

Although a brief discussion and review of the chest x-ray is presented, it is hoped that a stimulus has been provided to flight crew members who are frequently not using the chest x-ray in evaluation of the transport of critically ill patients. With practice and much work, flight nurses and paramedical technicians can become fairly good in examining the acute changes occurring in the chest x-ray and thereby make appropriate assessments and decisions concerning the patient prior to transport and upon arrival to transport to a tertiary care center.
