Abstract
This dissertation examines the reception history of the book of Chronicles, focusing on key moments of interpretation. It begins by identifying the features that are distinctive to Chronicles, and then looks at the following: the reception of Chronicles' King Manasseh in the ancient period; the importance of Chronicles' alternative theology and history for eighteenth-century Bible epitomes; the role of Chronicles in Julius Wellhausen's development of historical criticism; and the adaptation of Chronicles in the twenty-first century.
