Abstract

One of the concepts used to improve and make changes in organisations is business process reengineering (BPR). With regard to the existing challenges and high failure rate in engineering open projects, in this study, the readiness of the studied organisation for implementation of BPR has been assessed. The case studied here is Keshavarzi Bank (Agriculture Bank) in Iranian banking industry. Nine factors were studied including strategic alignment, top management commitment, flatter organisational structures, organisational culture, change management, human resources, IT infrastructures, effective process redesign, and project management. 56 questionnaires were distributed in Keshavarzi Bank headquarters in Tehran using the census method. For data analysis, one-sample t-test was used to understand the status of the research variables, and Friedman test was used to rank the factors. Based on the results, this bank is ready for BPR implementation in terms of strategic alignment, top management commitment, organisational culture, human resources and IT infrastructures.
