Abstract

Dirkx et al.1 studied 73 patients with tremor-dominant Parkinson disease (PD) and recorded their tremor before and after levodopa using forearm EMG. They concluded that there were 2 types of postural tremor in these patients: reemergent tremor, noted in 81% of the patients, and pure postural tremor, present in 19%. They noted that reemergent tremor is a “continuation of resting tremor.” This confirms our report in which we coined the term “reemergent tremor” to draw attention to this type of postural tremor, often more troublesome in patients with PD than the typical rest tremor, and to differentiate it from essential tremor (ET).2
