Abstract

Ma et al.1 reported the results of a prospective study from China and concluded that there was a strong association between low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol <70 mg/dL (1.8 mmol/L) and the risk of intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH). Their findings are important, especially considering current recommendations for management of dyslipidemia. Notably, the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) guidelines published in 2019 recommend target LDL cholesterol levels of <70 mg/dL or even <55 mg/dL, depending on the patient's level of risk.
