Abstract
Acronyms: Socioeconomic Status (SES), Reach Out and Read (ROR) Health Maintenance Visit (HMV) Background: Emergent Literacy is the process through which children assimilate vocabulary and phonologic awareness into written language. Beginning with prenatal recognition of parents’ voices, the process later mediates the transition to reading fluency which is, in turn, a predictor of academic success.
