Abstract

Abstract A modified process scheme, where all reactions are performed in a series loop flow, has been proposed for the UT-3 thermochemical hydrogen production cycle. In this scheme, appropriate gas mixtures of H2O and Br2 and HBr are introduced into each reactor. Kinetic measurements for bromination of CaO with a mixture of Br2 and steam showed that the reactivity of Ca-reactant can be maintained above 863 K. Continuous production of hydrogen was successfully achieved in the loop flow.
