Abstract

Analytical expressions based on the point reactor model are presented for the increase in peak power, temperature and energy release-caused by short time delays in the temperature feedback of reactivity-in superpromptcritical excursions. A criterion is presented to decide whether the delay time ought to be included in the analysis or not. Two specific cases, slowing-down delay and heat transfer delay of Doppler feedback in Na cooled fast breeder reactors are discussed.
